A rare, striking and beautifully designed Italian floor lamp constructed from alternate, interlocking, identical, silver squares with brass edges.  This beautiful lamp was designed by Gaetano Sciolari for Sciolari Lighting during the 1970s.  The vertical and horizontal interlocking squares (which are reminiscent of a jigsaw puzzle) are covered with plastic silver facings which cover the metal frame underneath. The horizontal supporting squares hold all the vertical squares in place.  A rectangular square section of brass piping is fitted to the top of the lamp and holds the bulb socket and shade in place.

The original off-white flecked shade with gold plastic edged piping shows some signs of age but it is over 50 years old.  You may wish to change the fabric and keep the frame if you wish but I personally feel it's part of the character of the lamp.

One plastic square is missing exposing the wiring which runs up that side of the lamp through the squares.  An incredibly well made and sturdy lamp which is so beautiful you can't help staring at it.  In good vintage condition with some tarnishing to the brass edges in places.

The wiring has been checked by an electrician.  The black foot operated switch is fitted along the flex making iot very easy to turn off and on.

Dimensions:

Height to the top of the bulb socket: 107cm

Height to the top of the shade: 152cm

Width: 27.5cm Depth: 27.5cm
